The weather for the weekend was beautiful, and the Strikers played some pretty impressive soccer. First up at 9am was Council Rock. The match got off to a fast pace, Council Rock scored first, and the Kevin evened it up for the Strikers, all in the first 10 minutes fo the half. Council Rock would score another goal before halftime making it 2-1 at the half. Within 5 minutes in the second half Kevin would even the score again. As the action heated up with both teams making runs on each other. Council Rock would pull ahead once again with a shot that was to high overhead to reach. This time it was Martin who would bring us level once again. With the score 3 -3 Council Rock would score the next two goals. The Strikers however would not give up. Dante scored off a corner kick to get within one goal. Despite a late furious attack by the Strikers they could not even it up before the final whistle.
The result Strikers 4 Council Rock 5 while disappointing was not without some encouraging signs. The team did never give up, their passing and movement of the ball was greatly improved.
Next up for the strikers was the Torresdale Hornets.

On a beautiful field overlooking the Elk River the Strikers faced their toughest opponent to date in Cecil County SC. The Strikers held tough in the first half. Not being able to get the ball out of their half put alot of pressure on the defense and keeper. Ryan made 11 saves in the half. The half ened with the Strikers only down 2 goals. They wouldn’t be so fortunate in the second half giving up 4 more goals and scoring a late one by Kevin. With a final of Strikers 1 Cecil SC 6, the Strikers were handed their third lose of the season.
Lets wish the team good luck in their Columbus Day weekend Tournement.

In the past 2 weeks the strikers have suffered 2 very tough loses. The first coming at the hands or rather the feet of the Swarthmore Hurricanes.
The second, was a very tough loss to Central Delaware. After getting out to 1 goal lead on a nice goal from Dante. The Strikers then ran into some bad luck in the form of an own goal, to even the score right before half time. Central Delaware would take the lead after half time, before Dante scored on a free kick from just outside the box. With the game seeming destined to finish 2-2 a Central Delaware play launched a high blooping shot that just found its way under the cross bar to give them the lead with a few minutes left in the game. The Strikers played well despite the outcome. They managed to get off 14 shots on goal two of them finding the net. Ryan had a very nice game in goal making 7 saves.
I’m looking foward to a great game against Cecil County SC in Maryland. Lets go Strikers!!!!!

Week two of the season saw us face the Springfield Cougars at home. The Strikers got off to a fast start with a nice shot by Kieran, catching the keeper off his line. The Strikers would have a couple of chances to increase their lead, but could not convert them. With the half coming to a close Springfield picked up an errant ball in the middle and scored the equalizer with less than a minute left in the half. The Strikers would go up once again with Martin taking a long punt from Andrew in goal and making a nice move to get by the lone defender and putting the ball into the back of the net. The Strikers then seemed to control the game keeping the ball in the midfield. With Kevin scoring the Strikers third goal, on a nice run down the left side finishing his run with a well struck shot. However Springfield would not give up scoring two quick goals late in the second half to tie. Thats how the game would end a 3 - 3 tie.
With the team improving every week I look foward to next week.
